Cycle Entropy is the measure of disorder, instability, and noise present in the interaction journey between customer and company. In MCI, it quantifies the "zigzags," repetitive loops, and friction caused by the loss of context between touchpoints.

In Simple Terms

Imagine your customer's path to purchase as a line. If that line is straight and fluid, entropy is low. If the customer has to repeat the same information multiple times, goes back to stages they had already cleared, or gets "stuck" in confusing internal processes, the line becomes a tangled ball of yarn. High entropy is synonymous with wasted energy and money lost along the way.

Why This Concept Exists

The concept exists to name the invisible chaos that erodes conversion. Many companies focus only on funnel "Volume" but ignore the internal "Agitation" caused by Operational Amnesia. Without measuring entropy, a manager fails to realize that the customer is spinning in circles between marketing and sales, generating an acquisition cost (CAC) inflated by communicational inefficiency rather than a lead's lack of interest.

Think of a conveyor belt in a factory. If the belt is aligned, the product reaches the end with minimal energy. Cycle Entropy is as if that belt were loose and vibrating intensely: the product jumps, falls, moves backward, and requires workers to run from side to side to keep it on track. Practical Example

Do not confuse Cycle Entropy with a "Long Journey." A complex sales cycle (B2B Enterprise) can be long but have low entropy if every step is fluid, progressive, and contextualized. Entropy is not about total time, but about the quality of movement within 그 time.
